The correct pronunciation of Oman is oh-MĀHN. The “O” sounds like the “o” in “go,” and the “man” is pronounced as “mahn,” with an open “ah” sound. The stress is on the second syllable.

In Arabic, Oman is written as عُمَان (ʿUmān).

This trip is for all levels. Whether you are a complete beginner or someone who has been studying for years, this program is for you. We will have classes for different levels to ensure you get the most out of the trip.

No, this trip is not inclusive of flights. You will need to book your own flights. Make sure you flight into Muscat, Oman (MCT).

Visa is available on arrival if you are staying in Oman for less than 14 days for certain countries which includes the Unites States. You will need to show:

  1. Return flight
  2. Hotel Accommodation (if you are staying in the dorms, we will provide that information)
  3. Travel Insurance (This should cost less than $100)
  4. Children under 18 must be accompanied by their parents

How will the Arabic classes be conducted?2025-01-02T14:20:50-05:00

We will have daily classes from Monday – Thursday starting at 8:30 a.m. We will have a break for lunch. The curriculum is still being developed. We will provide more information closer to the date. After classes we will have a daily activity.

What will the weekend expedition include?2024-12-23T13:49:22-05:00

Thursday, April 17: Depart after class for Nizwa. Attend a cooking workshop at Meeshan Show Kitchen and stay overnight in Nizwa’s old Souq.

Friday, April 18: Visit the Friday Souq in the morning (cattle, produce, crafts) and Nizwa Fort. Attend Friday prayer at the historic mosque. After lunch, visit the Oman Across Ages Museum in Manah. Continue to Wahiba Sands for dune bashing (optional), sunset views, and a night at Sama Al Wasil desert camp under the stars.

Saturday, April 19: Explore the desert and visit Wadi Bani Khalid starting at 8:30 AM.

Yes. If they are teenagers, they will be able to join the adults in the classes. If there are enough children, we will organize sessions with them as well. Children are welcome to join the trips as well.

Do I have to attend the Arabic classes?2024-12-23T13:51:57-05:00

Priority is given to those who sign up for the Arabic classes. You may bring a guest who does not attend, but will need to pay for lodging, transportation, etc.

Ibadi (الإباضية) is a distinct branch of Islam that emphasizes simplicity in worship, community justice, and moderation. It originated in the 7th century and is known for its peaceful interpretation of Islamic teachings.

In Oman, Ibadism is the dominant form of Islam, shaping the country’s religious and cultural identity. It was established there during the early Islamic period and has remained central to Omani society, influencing its governance and traditions.

Yes, however the cost will be the same, and transportation to the institute from the hotel will not be included.
