Having been in operation for the past decade, we are familiar with the position Islamic schools in the United States are in.
Students, native and non-native speakers of Arabic alike, do not understand the importance of a language they don't use in their day-to-day communication outside their family setting or religious group. That is even more of an issue with the latter group of students, for whom the language and its culture and origin are just too distant.
That can be attributed to the lack of structure within the school, and incorrect pedagogical approach — especially when dealing with a complex language like Arabic.

Engaging high schoolers can be a difficult task. We have incorporated fun games and quizzes such as Kahoot to increase their love for Arabic. This is also essential for teachers to assess the students' abilities.
